Mohamed Salah's Anfield days could be numbered according to a body language specialist. The Liverpool star sparked controversy last week when he accused the club of "throwing him under the bus" following a spell on the sidelines.

Salah created quite the commotion after Liverpool's 3-3 draw with Leeds United , unleashing his frustrations in a heated post-match interview. This prompted rumours that the Africa Cup of Nations-bound attacker might be heading for the exit door permanently.

Manager Arne Slot admitted he was taken aback by Salah's remarks, having left the 33-year-old on the bench for several recent matches, and crunch discussions followed. Despite being absent for the midweek European tie against Inter, he made the matchday squad for Saturday's clash with Brighton , and Joe Gomez's injury meant he was introduced after just 25 minutes.

Salah provided an assist in the 2-0 victory but appeared visibly moved at the final whistle , acknowledging supporters in every stand at Anfield and being amongst the final players to depart the pitch. Body language specialist Darren Stanton believes this behaviour indicates an imminent departure from Liverpool.

" Mohamed Salah looked very, very emotional after the Brighton game," Stanton told OLBG . "I think it was almost like his epitaph. I don't think we're going to see him again, if I'm honest.

"He had tears in his eyes when he was clapping along with the crowd, so I think that's his swan song, his kind of farewell," Stanton continued.

"I think even though it's not formal, I think he knows in his heart that he's never going to be in that situation and walk on that pitch again. So I do think he's going to be going and not coming back.

"Salah had an expression, it was sadness and disappointment because, obviously, things hadn't gone differently. Principally, he was quite sad, quite emotional, had tears in his eyes, and facially, he was flashing microexpressions of sadness."

The match ended 2-0 thanks to Hugo Ekitike 's brace. Ekitike scored within the first minute and then again at the 60-minute mark, the latter assisted by Salah.

Slot was questioned about Salah after the victory and when asked if he wanted to see the forward back after he has represented Egypt at AFCON, the Dutchman simply replied: "Yes." Salah himself chose to keep quiet, cheekily telling reporters: "Two weekends in a row? No, no."

However, when Slot was probed about whether the 33-year-old wished to continue at Anfield, he said: "That I think you already know the answer. What has been said between us stays between us. He was in the squad and my first substitution.

"There is no issue for me to resolve," he added. "For me, he is now the same as any other player. There is nothing for me to talk about after what happened against Leeds."
