Morocco hits back and reports Senegal to FIFA and CAF

T he final of the Africa Cup of Nations between Senegal and Morocco caused an earthquake of epic proportions: the goal disallowed to Senegal in added time, the subsequent penalty awarded to Morocco , the subsequent withdrawal of the 'Lions of Teranga' from the pitch, the Brahim Diaz's miss from the penalty spot , the Pape Gueye's goal to snatch the Cup from the hosts...

The reaction of the 'Atlas Lions' has been special. The Moroccan Federation has counterattacked with a harsh statement in which it threatens to denounce Senegal to FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) . They understand that the events after the penalty affected the "normal development of the match".

"The Royal Moroccan Football Federation announces that it will take legal action against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA in relation to the withdrawal of the Senegalese national team from the final against Morocco and the events following the referee's decision to award a penalty , considered correct by all experts. This significantly affected the normal development of the match and the performance of the players," reads the official statement from the FRMF.

"The Royal Moroccan Football Federation also expresses its sincere thanks to all the Moroccan fans who remained loyal to the national team with their massive attendance and exemplary support in all the matches and tournaments of the national team. The Federation also thanks all those who contributed to the success of this continental championship, " it concludes.
