Netherlands vs Lithuania – Match preview and team news

The Netherlands will face Lithuania in the final Group G fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign.

Ronald Koeman’s side will be searching for a dominant display to build momentum ahead of the finals, while the Tricolours will be hoping to salvage pride in a difficult campaign.

Denzel Dumfries has withdrawn from the squad following a training injury sustained ahead of the Poland fixture. The Inter Milan right-back was already a doubt and has now left the Dutch camp. Quilindschy Hartman also remains sidelined through illness, while Ajax forward Wout Weghorst has withdrawn due to injury. Jan Paul van Hecke picked up a suspension-inducing yellow card against Poland and will miss Monday’s encounter.

Justin Kluivert also misses out as he was injured in the match against Poland . He returned to his club, Bournemouth, and left the national team before the match against Lithuania .

Despite these absences, Koeman will have most of his squad available, with Memphis Depay continuing to lead the attack. The Corinthians forward has been in outstanding form, scoring his 55th international goal against Poland . Depay’s presence adds significant experience and threat to the Dutch attack.

There are no new injury concerns for Lithuania . Coach Edgaras Jankauskas will look to end the campaign on a high note after they showed a good performance against Israel on Thursday and drew the match 0-0 in an international friendly.

They will certainly want to cause an upset by defeating the Netherlands . The last time they faced the Netherlands , Lithuania performed well and came back from a 2-0 deficit to 2-2 at halftime, only to have their hopes dashed by Memphis Depay’s strike in the 63rd minute. This time they will look forward to going one step further.

Ronald Koeman’s side showed slight frustration in their most recent outing, drawing 1-1 with Poland in Warsaw on Friday evening.

The Oranje were held to a stalemate after Jakub Kaminski gave Poland a 45th-minute lead, with Memphis Depay equalising just two minutes into the second half. Despite the draw, the Netherlands remain three points clear at the top of Group G with an impressive goal difference of +19, meaning they require only a point to secure their place in the World Cup.

Jankauskas faces a monumental task as his side looks to end a winless run that has stretched to 16 matches across all competitions. The Tricolours are bottom of Group G with just three points from seven qualifying matches, and have failed to register a victory throughout the entire qualifying campaign.

Netherlands: Verbruggen; Timber, De Ligt, Van Dijk, Van de Ven; Gravenberch, De Jong; Simons, Reijnders, Gakpo; Depay.

Lithuania: Svedkauskas; Tutyskinas, Armalas, Utkus; Sirvys, Gineitis, Vorobjovas, Golubickas, Lasickas; Cernych, Paulauskas.
