Newcastle United have been rocked by the news that new No.9 Yoane Wissa is injured - and Eddie Howe doesn't know when he'll be back.

The Magpies preparations for Saturday's meeting with bottom of the table Wolves have been hit by the news that the £50m new boy won't be available, and nor will fellow new boy Jacob Ramsey.

Wissa suffered an injury during the international break while on duty with DR Congo. He was substituted withjust 16 minutes remaining against Senegal in a World Cup qualifier earlier this week. It's been confirmed to be a knee problem for the former Brentford man, but there are big worries over how long he'll be out for. He is set for consultations with a specialist on the problem, and Howe admits it's not possible to talk about the length of his absence.

Wissa reported back to the club's training ground on Thursday yesterday, but speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, the Toon boss revealed: "He won't make this game.

"It’s a knee injury but I don’t know any more than that. We only saw him for the first time yesterday.

"He was feeling the effects of the injury just before he came off. He will go away for tests and maybe see a specialist to see."

Wissa had started in Kinshasha and put his side 2-1 up before half time, only for them to succumb to a defeat.

Ramsey is also set to miss the match with an ankle injury, Howe disclosed: "He came off with an ankle injury against Leeds and unfortunately he will be out until the next international break."

Joelinton however has recovered from a groin problem he picked up against Liverpool , and the Brazilian international is in line to step in for Ramsey. Howe confirmed: "Joe is fit and available and been out on the training pitch so it's great to have him back."

Another new signing, £69m striker Nick Woltemade, is fit to make his debut against Wolves.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
