‘On his knees’: How deflated Man Utd star reacted as soon as the whistle blew on ‘worst performance’ says it all
Manchester United ended their unbeaten streak at five games after slumping to a 1-0 defeat to Everton tonight.
Indeed, the Red Devils squandered a golden opportunity to throw themselves into the top-four race, as a win would’ve had them level on points with fourth-placed Aston Villa and just two points away from Chelsea in second.
Yet, they were unable to get the job done when the pressure was well and truly on. What’s more concerning is that they failed to even find the back of the net once, despite being against 10 men since the 13th minute of the clash.

It truly was one of those nights where the match could’ve gone on for an extra hour and United still wouldn’t have scored .
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s stellar finish in the 29th minute came slightly against the run of play at the time, but gave the Toffees all they needed to spend the remaining 60 minutes+ protecting their one-goal advantage.
Add that to the fact that Jordan Pickford oversaw an absolutely outstanding display between the sticks, and nobody could dispute that the Toffees fought tooth and nail to secure all three points in an unexpected triumph in M16.
It marked David Moyes’ first win as an away manager at his old stomping ground, while Ruben Amorim recorded his 18th Premier League loss since taking the reins 12 months ago.

When referee Tony Harrington blew his whistle for full-time, one Red dropped to his knees in despair.
“Amad [is] on his knees. That’s one of MUFC’s worst defeats under Amorim. Another chance to go into the top five and they’ve blown it against ten men. Certainly their worst performance of the season in the league,” said Samuel Luckhurst on X/Twitter.
