Pedro Neto and Bruno Fernandes salute Wolves great Rui Patricio after retirement

Rui Patricio, the former Wolves and Portugal goalkeeper, has confirmed his retirement, prompting tributes from Pedro Neto and Bruno Fernandes .

According to Molineux.news, Patricio made over 100 Wolves appearances and holds the club's Premier League clean sheet record. He was pivotal under Nuno Espirito Santo as the Old Gold pushed for Europe and reached the Europa League quarter-finals.

His career brought eight trophies, including the European Championships and Nations League with Portugal. He also lifted the Conference League, the Portuguese Cup twice, the Portuguese League Cup and the Portuguese Super Cup.

Neto and Patricio shared 69 Wolves matches together at an average of 1.51 points per game. Fernandes lined up with him 88 times for Sporting Lisbon and Portugal, averaging 2.06 points per game.

Both posted on Instagram after the announcement. Neto wrote: 'Legend ✨🙏'. Fernandes added: 'Thank you for everything Saint Patrick ❤️ A privelege to have shared the spa with you 🤲'.

Wolves' current goalkeeping picture remains uncertain. Jose Sa's form at the start of the season cost the team points and his future is unclear. Sam Johnstone has looked steadier, but his error recently handed Nottingham Forest all three points at Molineux. A January move for a goalkeeper is being explored, with interest reported in Christos Mandas, although whether they act remains to be seen.
