Former Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse went from zero to hero on Sunday as he scored six for Wythenshawe FC's over-35s team in a 13-0 win over South Liverpool . The ex-Premier League talisman is part of a star-studded veterans team in the Cheshire Veterans Football League that have been steamrolling their opponents and this weekend was no different .

Cisse saw his penalty saved before his follow-up was turned onto the post by the South goalkeeper. From the follow-up corner, the 32-time Senegal international dragged his delivery across the floor and out for a goal-kick.

However, he atoned for his nightmare 30 seconds as he scored a double hat-trick in the second-half of Sunday's encounter in Greater Manchester .

Reporters were in attendance at Hollyhedge Park to see Wythenshawe host South Liverpool in a top-of-the-table clash. They saw the worst and the best of the 40-year-old.

The Telegraph's James Ducker tweeted: "Things you don’t expect to see at a Sunday League vets game… Former Newcastle & Senegal striker Papiss Cisse missing a penalty then kicking a corner straight out."

But he turned on the style in the second-half by scoring six goals to take the game beyond reasonable doubt.

In doing so, he showed what Premier League quality looked like with an outrageous chip to extend their lead.

He received the acclaim of those in attendance after his display as he was mobbed for autographs and pictures.

It is the latest glut of goals for the headline-making veterans team. This season they have dispatched the likes of AFC Monton, Radcliffe Old Boys and Collegiate Old Boys 7-1, 10-1 and 6-2, respectively.

Cisse scored six in the rout over Liverpool vets side, Collegiate, while the likes of Joleon Lescott, George Boyd and Stephen Ireland have all netted in a dominant start to the season for Wythenshawe.

They have a host of Premier League icons on the books with Emile Heskey, Danny Drinkwater, Maynor Figueroa and Oumar Niasse signed on.

Previously speaking on All Out Football's In The Mixer podcast , Lescott said: "Over 35s, I'm a striker, 10k I did yesterday (running stats in the game).

"Two poachers goals to be fair, I recognised when the danger was and the other one, I forced the error. For the level, I can press quite intensely, the defender went to pass back, hit it short and I went around the goalie.

"I just enjoy being able to run around."
