Landon Donovan has resorted to wearing a wig after unsuccessful attempts at hair transplants left him searching for alternatives. The ex-Everton star recently turned to social media asking supporters for advice on revitalising his appearance.
Donovan, who featured 22 times for the Toffees across two separate loan spells, has battled with hair loss throughout his playing days. Despite numerous efforts to address the issue, none have proved successful.
The retired striker disclosed that he'd undergone multiple hair transplant procedures in a bid to restore his locks, but after repeated disappointments, he's turned to pursuing different options.
He shared an update with followers, posting footage on X documenting the entire procedure, which showed him having the crown of his head shaved before the hairpiece was attached with adhesive.
Following the positive outcome, Donovan thanked his followers for their encouragement during his hair restoration journey, writing: "After years of trying different methods, I've finally tried a hairpiece. I've been encouraged by your messages over the last few days.
"It's allowed me to be vulnerable and open up about my experience and process. Thank you for all your messages of support!" The clip featured a beaming Donovan displaying his new look, which prompted numerous supportive comments from admirers. One social media user posted: "Think it looks great."
Another added: "The middle part where they shaved your head had me nervous for you. The final product looks great. Good for you! Years younger for sure." The American's spells at Goodison Park came in 2010 and 2012, whilst on loan from LA Galaxy.

He scored twice and provided nine assists, and despite his brief periods on Merseyside, he quickly won over the supporters. Donovan returned to the club's historic stadium one last time this summer, reflecting on his deep affection for the venue and its passionate fanbase. Speaking to Everton's official website, he said: "I miss this place.
"When I walked through here the first time, I remember I got off the plane, it was a Cup game, I walked through the stadium to sit down and I got here at half-time. The ushers, the people in the car park and the fans, everybody walking through said, 'Hi Landon, welcome, great to have you'.

"I had never felt that before, I had never stepped a minute on the field so I could have been terrible, but they showed me that love and support from the beginning and I wanted to repay it.
"I just have so many fond memories, particularly night matches here, with the crowd absolutely boiling over and us scoring and beating big teams, all the giants here on night games here at Goodison. It makes me pretty emotional being here."
