Qatari holding company JTA in advanced negotiations to acquire Getafe

J TA International Investment Holding, a global investment company based in Qatar, chaired by Dr Amir Ali Salemi , is in advanced negotiations with Getafe president Angel Torres to acquire the Madrid club.

After several months of talks, the agreement is reportedly close to being finalized and would represent a major financial boost for Getafe. The agreement includes the naming rights of the new stadium, which is expected to be completed in approximately two years, the main sponsorship of the team's shirt and, by express decision of JTA's management, the continuity of Angel Torres as president of the club.

Amir Ali Salemi, CEO of JTA International, considers Torres a " leader of great value " whose continuity at the helm "is essential to maintain the identity of the club and its connection with its loyal fan base".

A lifelong football enthusiast and player in his youth, Dr Salemi sees the potential acquisition as " a way to contribute to the growth and stability of Spanish football , while strengthening the ties between sport, business and the community".

The purchase of Getafe is part of JTA's wider strategic expansion plan, which has seen the company grow from a regional investment firm to become an active global investor in more than 50 countries . JTA operates in key sectors such as energy, civil infrastructure, innovation, tourism, transport, health, agriculture and food security.

Recently, JTA International Investment Holding signed a €2 billion cooperation agreement with Vietnamese company Vingroup, involving VinFast and VinPearl, and signed an agreement to develop the largest sports complex in East Asia, a flagship €4.5 billion project in Vietnam . JTA also invests in some prestigious projects in the real estate, energy, fintech and tourism sectors. "These initiatives further reinforce JTA's diverse and ambitious global portfolio."

If the deal with Getafe is finally formalized, it would be JTA's first major investment in European football , providing the company with visibility in one of the most prestigious championships in the world. LaLiga, known for its enormous global reach and competitive excellence, is a decisive factor in JTA's decision to acquire a club in Spain. After a thorough evaluation by experts familiar with Spanish football, Getafe was identified as the ideal candidate due to its financial stability, solid management and respected sporting project.

Under the leadership of Dr. Amir Ali Salemi, JTA International Investment Holding has become a globally recognized leader in strategic investment. Salemi has received multiple international awards for business management excellence, including the World Confederation of Businesses Best Business Leadership Award.

Expressing his confidence that the ongoing negotiations will be successful, Amir Ali Salemi hopes "that an agreement will be reached soon, with Angel Torres remaining at the helm of the club ".

If it goes through, "the acquisition would mark a new chapter in Spanish football and in Qatar's global investment footprint", just weeks after the historic qualification of the Qatari national team, coached by Julen Lopetegui, for the 2026 World Cup.
