Real Madrid megastar’s contract demands with renewal talks at a standstill
Vinicius Jr. and Real Madrid are at an impasse in negotiations over the Brazilian superstar’s contract.
The 25-year-old forward’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2027, meaning he will be entering the final year of his deal at the end of the season – a situation that Real Madrid have been trying hard to avoid.
However, despite prolonged talks, an agreement is nowhere in sight, with the situation further complicated by the friction between the player and manager Xabi Alonso.
Now, a report from The Athletic has shed light on the contract demands being made by Vinicius and his camp, leading to the negotiations coming to a grinding halt.
Vinicius is currently on a salary worth €18 million per year net. As per the report, Real Madrid have offered him a new deal worth €20 million per year net, which his camp has already rejected.

Instead, the Brazilian attacker’s entourage is holding out for a pay packet of up to €30 million net, including fixed salary, add-ons, and a loyalty bonus.
Real Madrid, for their part, are unwilling to meet those demands, leading to the standoff between the two parties.
In fact, reports suggest that more talks are unlikely to be held until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup , meaning Vinicius will end up entering the final year of his contract at Real Madrid , putting the club in a precarious position.
As mentioned earlier, the tension between the 2024 Ballon d’Or runner-up and manager Xabi Alonso has only made the situation more complicated, with the player having reservations about committing to a new deal when he does not feel the full backing of the coach.
Real Madrid remain intent on unlocking the situation and tying Vinicius down to a new contract. But, given the current circumstances, it remains to be seen who among the two blink first.
