Real Madrid retain full trust in Xabi Alonso, but want to see a reaction from team

Just when things seemed to be getting back on track for Xabi Alonso and Real Madrid , following their midweek 4-3 win over Olympiacos, the pressure is back on.

Last night, Los Blancos were held to a 1-1 draw by Girona in La Liga – their third consecutive stalemate in the competition.

With six points dropped in three matches, Real Madrid have now allowed Barcelona to overtake them in the table. And serious questions are now being asked of Alonso and his team.

Despite the situation, though, Jose Felix Diaz of AS reports that the confidence in Xabi Alonso remains intact at Real Madrid .

While the situation is concerning, Los Blancos are not considering making any managerial change at this point and are calling for calm inside the club.

However, at the same time, the club administration is also hoping for a strong reaction from the team that can correct their path.

Five matches with only one victory in all competitions is a concerning development at Real Madrid , and the atmosphere shows it.

The draw against Michel’s struggling Girona side came as a cold shock for the club, both for the directors and for the players themselves.

They believed they had found the right direction after several meetings and discussions in recent days, led by Florentino Perez, with the win against Olympiacos backing that up. But talks of a crisis are back again, just three days later.

In three matchdays in La Liga , Real Madrid have seen their five-point advantage being erased, with Barcelona now moving one point clear.

This setback has hurt, but at Valdebebas they believe it has nothing to do with what happened against Liverpool or Rayo Vallecano, where the team gave up after going behind.

Those at the club insist that this was not the case against Girona. The team fought and pushed for the three points, but did so without spark and with few ideas. The substitutions by the manager did not bring much improvement either.

Despite the situation, the confidence expressed in Alonso remains firm. The message is to stay calm, but also to produce a decisive reaction that can straighten a trajectory now in doubt.
