Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino has warmly welcomed the prospect of Mohamed Salah and Arne Slot resolving their differences. The Egyptian's former strike partner responded after the Reds boss addressed the media on Friday morning.

During his pre-Brighton press conference, Slot confirmed crucial one-on-one discussions between himself and Salah are on the cards. The Dutchman's revelation appears to be a huge step in the right direction, given the comments both parties made this week.

As part of his mixed-zone tirade, Salah said there is "no relationship" between him and Slot , while the latter also admitted he does not know if the forward will play for the club again. With both parties seemingly willing to now come to the table, Firmino reacted favourably to the news.

Slot recently told the media: "I will have a conversation with him this morning and the outcome of that conversation will determine how it looks tomorrow.

"What I need is a conversation with him and the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. There's not much more I can say. I speak to him today and the outcome determines how things will look tomorrow."

Firmino saw Slot's quotes on a social media post. He reacted by moving into the comments section and typing clapping hands, a red love heart and praying emojis, without any words.

This reaction suggests Firmino backs the dialogue between Salah and Slot, which could pave the way for the 33-year-old's return to the Liverpool first team. A Premier League and Champions League victor with the Reds from 2015 to 2023, Firmino formed a tight partnership with fellow forward Salah.

Earlier this year, the Brazilian expressed his joy at witnessing both club and player secure another English league crown. He said: "I'm happy for Liverpool and for what Mohamed Salah has achieved.

"I think we have a great friendship, and we've built a beautiful history together. If he's watching me now, I'm very proud of him and his friendship."

However, whilst Salah's future has been cast into doubt over recent days he has been linked with exiting the club to the Saudi Pro League, which would emulate the transfer Firmino made more than two years ago when leaving the Reds at the end of his contract. He joined Al-Ahli, where he experienced a challenging spell.

The 34-year-old was removed from the club's domestic league squad midway through last season, but played a pivotal role in winning the club's first-ever AFC Champions League title. Firmino then completed another transfer to Qatar-based Al-Sadd during the recent summer transfer window.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, saving members £336 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
