Rogers shines as Villa edge past United
Aston Villa extended their winning streak to 10 matches across all competitions as Morgan Rogers stole the show with a brilliant brace in a 2-1 victory over Manchester United at Villa Park.
Rogers opened the scoring with a stunning curling strike into the top corner just before half-time, leaving United goalkeeper Senne Lammens rooted to the spot.
Manchester United responded immediately before the break, though, as Matheus Cunha capitalised on a rare error from Matty Cash to fire in a well-placed finish, levelling the scores and silencing the Villa faithful briefly.
But Rogers wasn’t finished. Showing excellent movement and composure, he danced past United defender Leny Yoro before curling another exquisite strike past Lammens to restore Villa’s lead and ultimately secure all three points.
Despite not always being at their fluent best, Villa showed resilience and clinical finishing when it mattered, moving within three points of league leaders Arsenal . United, meanwhile, face a tricky period ahead as injuries continue to bite and their squad is stretched thin.
