Roy Keane rips into Man Utd star with 'no presence' who looked like 'a schoolboy'

Roy Keane has taken aim at Manchester United 's subs for "bringing down the level" and claimed that Mason Mount looked like a "schoolboy" when he came on from the bench.

The Red Devils again underwhelmed in front of their own fans for the second time in ten days as they were held by lowly West Ham , who remain in the bottom three. Despite taking the lead they were pegged back and had to settle for another stalemate.

Amorim kept making changes in an effort to press home United's advantage, but they failed to influence the contest. After Dalot had scored the opening goal of the game Amorim made a host of changes, which included Mount and Manuel Ugarte coming onto replace Matheus Cunha and Joshua Zirkzee.

Mount had proved to be the match winner on Sunday as United came from behind to beat Crystal Palace but the ex-Chelsea man failed to have the same impact with Keane particularly irked.

The Irishman told Sky Sports : "When you look at the squad, considering the money that has been spent, they lack strength in depth. Particularly in the attacking areas.

"When you are trying to see a game off, I look at Mason Mount when he came on, some players take longer to get up to speed but he was like a schoolboy out there. You’re looking for players to come on with presence. If anything they brought the levels down at United. That seemed to be the case tonight."

The draw in Manchester means the Red Devils have only won one of their last five Premier League outings - albeit only one of those has ended in defeat. Keane continued his rant by airing concern with the players' inability to embrace the tough situations.

"The reason you are playing for Man Utd is that you deal with these situations," he said. "You try and deal better being one up against a team in the bottom three and Everton with 10 men. If you can’t deal with that, how can you deal with being a team in the top of the table?"

Jeers could be heard at full-time, but the Manchester outfit do still sit in eighth and are only two points outside the top four. Their next assignment is a trip to winless Wolves , who sit bottom of the pile, and nothing less than a win will prove satisfactory.
