Ruben Amorim admits Manchester United 'far from perfect' as head coach defends tactics again
United take on Everton in first game back after international break
Ruben Amorim has defended his formation once again as Manchester United look to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League .
The Red Devils are five games undefeated in the top flight, and have drawn their last two fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Tottenham respectively.
Both of those matches finished 2-2 , with Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt rescuing a point on both occasions for United.
Amorim’s side sit seventh in the table after 11 games, one point off the top four.
The Portuguese head coach admitted that his team were “far from perfection”, but claimed that the formation was “the start of something”.
“We are playing better, but we are playing better because we have more confidence, and that starts with good results, for example, against Liverpool,” Amorim told Stan Sport.
"We are getting better, but I can share my feeling. When we finished the game against Tottenham and I was coming back to Carrington, I was watching the game and my feeling was frustration; that we are far from perfection.
“We are far from being that team that can win every game. So I think we have a lot to do, but I also have the feeling, and I've been saying this for many months, that the formation is not the problem.
“The formation is the start of something, then it's the dynamic, the confidence, the way we play, how competitive we are.
“If you look at the games we struggled in this season, it was not about the formation for me. It was the lack of intensity. We need to be perfect in this league to win a lot of games.”
Amorim has come under fire for his loyalty to his favoured 3-4-2-1 shape, often crowbarring players into unnatural positions in order to keep the system the same.
In his first term at the helm, he led United to a 15th placed finish in the league, as well as a Europa League final defeat by Tottenham in Bilbao.
The Red Devils were also defeated five times in their opening seven games in all competitions this season.
