Wrexham's Hollywood owners have been told they must show patience and stand by their manager if they want to reach the Premier League . Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac bought the Red Dragons in February 2021 and have taken them to three consecutive promotions in recent seasons.

The Welsh club's meteoric rise from the National League to the Championship has been orchestrated by former Sunderland and Bradford boss Phil Parkinson . The two actors now harbour ambitions of taking Wrexham into the top flight after splashing out £33million on new signings in the summer transfer window.

Parkinson's squad currently sit 13th in the second tier table, just four points adrift of the play-off spots. Former Stoke City boss Tony Pulis reckons Wrexham are more than capable of fulfilling the owners' dream over time.

However, the Welshman has cautioned Reynolds and Mac that it could take several transfer windows to assemble a squad capable of securing promotion. Pulis has also encouraged them to maintain their backing of Parkinson after he faced questions about his position following a disappointing start to the season.

"I think the step up over the past few years has been fantastic," he told Mirror Football via betting site Stake.com. "Phil has done a great job and you are always going to come up against bigger clubs with bigger budgets.

"You can sometimes work through that quickly, but other times it does take a while. Just think last year Wrexham were in the third tier of English football and now they are in the Championship playing against former Premier League sides in Southampton and Leicester .

"There is a gap, but Phil knows his stuff, the gap is enormous at times, so you will need time to catch up. I think they will do well. I am not sure they will get in the play-offs, but for me if they finish in the top half of the Championship I would be delighted and then plan for next season."

Speculation surfaced back in mid-September suggesting discussions had taken place regarding Parkinson's future following a 3-1 home defeat to Queens Park Rangers . It came after a disappointing start which saw Wrexham suffer three defeats in their opening five Championship fixtures.

However, those reports were firmly rejected by club director Shaun Harvey , who described the claims as "an absolute disgrace". Parkinson has subsequently transformed Wrexham's fortunes and they are currently enjoying an unbeaten streak of five matches.

When questioned about whether Parkinson is the right manager to guide Wrexham to the Premier League, Pulis said: "Without any question of a doubt. He knows the game so well and has done such a great job so far for Wrexham.

"He knows how to win football matches, this is so important and therefore he has the trust of the owners and can get them up. They need to have a good few transfer windows, starting in January and then in the summer which can then build their squad further.

"They will have got used to the Championship, give him time, he knows the division and he can get them promoted, and improve the quality in the squad."
