Bukayo Saka was seen limping off the pitch after suffering an injury during Arsenal ’s 1-0 defeat to Tottenham on Thursday.

Spurs sealed the win through Pape Matar Sarr’s impressive long-range strike on the stroke of half time after David Raya was caught off his line.

Saka, meanwhile, required treatment following a challenge from Mathys Tel in the second half and was then replaced by Max Dowman in the 77th minute.

But during Spurs’ trophy celebrations after the game, Saka was seen noticeably limping alongside his Arsenal teammates as they headed off the pitch towards the tunnel.

Mikel Arteta did not provide an update on Saka’s condition after the game but insisted that Arsenal will not be taking risks with any player ahead of their friendly against Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium next Wednesday.

Arsenal also have another injury headache from their defeat to Spurs as Leandro Trossard, who was brought on as a second-half substitute, was forced off with five minutes remaining.

‘He felt a little tweak,’ Arteta said after the game.

‘I think he tried to turn and he was pushed and he felt something muscular so we will have to assess him.’

Meanwhile, Gabriel Magalhaes, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber and Kepa arrizabalaga all missed the friendly against Spurs in Hong Kong.

But when asked if the defensive trio are doubts for Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Manchester United on August 17, Arteta replied: ‘I don’t think so.

‘If they evolve like they have been involved in the last few days, Gabriel Magalhaes, Calafiori and Timber, the three of them will be available.’

When asked about Kepa’s absence, Arteta said: ‘He felt something as well in the game against Newcastle.

‘I think it’s a matter of days, probably. If it was the Premier League he could have played but we decided not to take a risk.’
