Schlotterbeck: “A winner’s mentality means killing the game off”
Niko Kovac (on DAZN): “That was definitely too little. We expected more. Which would have been possible. We didn’t take advantage of the chances we had. What really annoys me is the fact that we conceded a goal from a throw-in when we were a man down. We’re not consistent enough. When you concede two goals at this level, you don’t win games. We had our chances, but we didn’t take them. Then you have to win a game like this 2-1. We missed a huge opportunity because we weren’t consistent enough.”
Nico Schlotterbeck (on DAZN): “I said at half-time: we’re starting to play nervously after going 1-0 up, our passing is incredibly poor. A winner’s mentality means killing the game off. We didn’t manage to do that at all. We want to play beautifully. But that’s not enough. We could have gone up to 13 points today. Killing the game is a matter of quality. And then you concede the goal for 2-2 from a throw-in where you’re outnumbered and can’t clear the ball. When you come on in the 60th minute, I expect 30 minutes of full throttle. After their second goal, we didn’t have any more chances to score. We played incredibly sloppily in the last quarter of an hour. That’s not good enough in a home game. Now you have to win both games, otherwise you won’t be in the top eight and you’ll have two more games to play – and everyone is frustrated that you have two more games to play.”

Julian Brandt (on DAZN): “We took the lead twice, conceded silly goals and made life difficult for ourselves. We had chances to score another goal or two. At 1-1, we were asleep from the corner and left their player unmarked in front of goal. Overall, though, we did quite well in the first half. We needed to be more clinical up front. In the second half, we managed to take the lead again, had a lot of space, but were too inconsistent in front of goal and left the door open for Bodø. We still have a chance to qualify, but we could have put ourselves in a better position today.”
Karim Adeyemi (on DAZN): “We have to win every game – whatever it takes. For me, it was one of the worst games of the season. That was nothing. We have to do better in general. We have to win games like this.” Transcribed by Boris Rupert
