Sir Jim Ratcliffe continues to cut costs as Man Utd terminate 10-year Kensington office lease early
Manchester United will reportedly make an early exit from a 10-year lease agreement at their London offices in Kensington.
According to the Daily Mail , the club are set to switch the Kensington base in favour of slightly smaller premises in Covent Garden.
Staff have already vacated the Kensington office and are currently working from home until the new site is ready.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos have launched a series of cost-cutting measures since completing their minority purchase of the club in February 2024.
Following an initial round of 250 redundancies , the club eliminated further 150 to 200 jobs in February this year.
Ratcliffe is on a mission to make United as financially efficient as possible, and the latest move to switch their London office is another step in that regard.
The Red Devils’ London home featured a tunnel of LED screens to give visitors the impression they were at Old Trafford. The building also featured two bars and the club had use of the top floor in its entirety.
But with Ratcliffe deciding the majority of staff should be based in Manchester, the Kensington facility was deemed too large and expensive.
The club are now set to move to Covent Garden, which will place them in a better location and also result in significant rent reduction.
Ratcliffe has faced criticism for increasing ticket prices and making staff redundant since taking control of football operations at United.
But the British billionaire is not afraid to make unpopular decisions if he feels they are necessary for the betterment of the club.
