Sky Sports pundits react to Harry Amass, Sheffield Wednesday situation after surprise Ruben Amorim claim
Man United manager Ruben Amorim claims Harry Amass is 'struggling' for Sheffield Wednesday , with Sky Sports pundits since reacting to his loan spell.
Sky Sports duo Clinton Morrison and Tommy Smith have reacted to the Harry Amass situation at Sheffield Wednesday following Ruben Amorim's comments regarding the Man United loanee.
With the Owls under severe transfer restrictions, the deal to bring the 18-year-old left-back to Hillsborough was only given the green light by the EFL after Man United agreed to pay the entirety of Amass' wages with Sheffield Wednesday . In fact, in a further generous gesture to help the troubled Championship club, Amorim's side are also footing the bill for Amass' accommodation costs .
Man United manager's claims Amass has been "struggling" at Wednesday despite the fact he has been a mainstay and one of the more consistent players for the Championship's bottom side. Sheffield Wednesday fans were bemused regarding Amorim's Amass claims.
They are not the only ones to comment on the situation. Speaking ahead of Sheffield Wednesday's clash with Derby County last night, Sky Sports punditry duo Tommy Smith and Clinton Morrison discussed Amass following Amorim's comments earlier this week.

Smith said: “Harry’s on loan from Manchester United . I’ve seen a fair amount of Harry through Watford’s academy. He played with my son for six, seven years there. He had a host of clubs sniffing around him — Man United signed him.
“He made his debut there last year. You sometimes worry — a young lad going to a big, big club — it’s good to see him go out on loan and get some games under his belt at Championship level. He’ll learn an awful lot this season, particularly under the scenario he’s gone into at the moment.
“Big learning curve for him, but he’s producing and been a regular ever since he’s gone in.”
Morrison added: “Yeah, and I think Tommy makes a good point. Sometimes, when you’re at a club like Man United , you can easily decide I’m just going to stay there.
“He’s probably in and around training with the first-team. But I think he’s a very good player. And to go to a club like Sheffield Wednesday and struggling the way they are, it’ll be a good experience for his development. I think it’s fantastic for him and fair play to him.
“More youngsters need to go out on loan and have that experience Harry’s going to have at Sheffield Wednesday .”
Smith responded: “Night and day [it’s different from academy football]. You need to go out and need to play men’s football. And the higher level you can go at, the better.
“It’s worked for Sheffield Wednesday because they’ve got a quality young player there. Quite flexible, can play left-back/left wing. He’s been playing left wing-back mainly this season.
“But, yeah, he’s a bright star. One for the future, certainly.”

Amass is playing regular first-team football at a high level for a teenager. The kind which he will be desperate to maintain, even with Wednesday's difficult situation at the bottom of the league.
There were claims last month that Man United were planning to allow Amass to remain at Hillsborough for the entire season. However, his performances will have attracted other suitors and the clock ticks down on his short-term loan, meaning it is now much less certain that he will see out the campaign with the second tier's basement side.
According to the BBC , while Wednesday are keen to keep hold of Amass, the 18-year-old has interest from elsewhere ahead of the January transfer window, and the Red Devils are yet to make a final decision on his future, with an alternative loan move or a possible permanent sale among the options on the table.
