Three La Fabrica talents set to be called up for Real Madrid vs Manchester City – report
Real Madrid face Manchester City tomorrow at the Santiago Bernabeu with as many as seven players ruled out of the contest.
Indeed, Dani Carvajal, David Alaba, Dean Huijsen, Eder Militao, Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all set to be unavailable.
Meanwhile, there are question marks over the availability of superstar Kylian Mbappe as well, with the forward dealing with discomfort.
If he does not recover in time, Los Blancos will go into the game with eight stars unavailable. Given the situation, Xabi Alonso has had to turn to the Real Madrid academy for solutions.
And, according to AS , three youngsters from the academy – Joan Martinez, Victor Valdepenas, and Jorge Cestero, are set to be called up to the squad for the midweek clash.
Joan Martinez is the one who has spent the most time training with the first team among the three. He was called up to training before the Celta Vigo game and was even named in the squad, and continues to remain the scheme of things.
It makes sense considering that Real Madrid are without Huijsen, Militao, and Alaba, and Raul Asencio might once again be needed at right-back.
After progressing steadily this season following his recovery from ACL injury, Martinez has become Castilla’s defensive leader and returned to the Spain U-19 side.
He is a player Real Madrid count on for the near future, including next season depending on movements in the centre-back positions. For now, the next step is his debut.

Another talented defender from La Fabrica , Valdepenas has also worked with the senior team in the past and been named in the squad (last season vs Villarreal). Capable of playing at centre-back and left-back, the teenager is a versatile operator with great quality.
A player who sees Rudiger and Federico Valverde as his role models, for their physical football and personality, Valdepenas stands out for his impressive work rate, strength, and speed.
His performances have made him undisputed in Castilla as a centre-back. But it is his versatility that earns him this promotion.
Valdepenas will be called up for the City match and is a strong candidate to start at left-back against Alaves, where Alvaro Carreras, Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy will not be available.
The 19-year-old midfield starlet has been on the radars of Alonso for some time now, for he offers something different than the midfielders in the senior setup.
A pivot who can control and dictate the game in midfield and possesses a great range of distribution, while also being solid in terms of the defensive work, Cestero is seen as a mature player who can thrive at the first-team level.
It remains to be seen if he gets an opportunity, but the La Fabrica prodigy will be in the squad for the Manchester City game.
