Paddy Pimblett did not hold back in his assessment of Liverpool boss Arne Slot , but still has some slight optimism for the season.

Liverpool have endured a tough start to the Premier League season, having lost six of their opening 14 games. After winning the league title last season, the Reds certainly were not shy when it came to opening up the cheque book, having spent over £446million on the likes of Alexander Isak , Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez.

So far, all of their major recruits this season have failed to live up to expectations. Swedish forward Isak - who cost the club a British record £125m - has only scored one Premier League goal since joining from Newcastle, while Wirtz has yet to register a single goal since his move from Bundesliga giants Bayer Leverkusen.

With the Merseyside outfit 11 points off leaders Arsenal, it seems unlikely Slot's side will retain their title. The 47-year-old Dutchman, who arrived from Feyenoord last season, is facing some real pressure, but he seems to have Pimblett's support for the time being.

Speaking to Coin Poker , the UFC star said: "I thought he might have gotten shafted after PSV pumped us. Getting beat at Anfield by a Dutch team, that's unheard of. Especially after Forest just sank us 3-0 at home. Hopefully Arsenal will just keep dropping points. As long as Arsenal don't win the league, I'm happy."

Pimblett is a beloved supporter of Liverpool and is often seen travelling far and wide to watch his team play, but will no doubt be far from impressed with the club's current run of form. The Premier League champions dropped points yet again earlier this week, drawing at home to newly-promoted Sunderland .

Slot's men will be desperate to get back to winning ways on Saturday evening when they travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United - fresh off a famous 3-1 victory over Chelsea.

For Pimblett, whilst he will be hoping his club pick up a bit of momentum, his full focus is on his return to the octagon next month. The 'Baddy' is scheduled to take on Justin Gaethje for the interim title at UFC 324 on January 24 in Las Vegas. The 30-year-old was hoping to settle the score with bitter rival Ilia Topuria, but has been made to wait after the reigning 155lb champion confirmed he would not be returning for the time being due to personal reasons.

UFC 323 will take place on December 6 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas - headlined by a bantamweight clash between Merab Dvalishvili and Petr Yan. While official times are yet to be confirmed, expect the early prelims to get underway at 11pm UK time (3pm PT / 5pm CT / 6pm ET), with the prelims following at 1am UK time on Sunday (5pm PT / 7pm CT / 8pm ET on Saturday).
