Vinicius ready to leave Real Madrid as contract talks stall

Vinicius Junior is ready to leave Real Madrid after informing the club he won’t sign a new contract.

The Brazil international does not want to sign fresh terms while his relationship with head coach Xabi Alonso remains strained. The 25-year-old had a public spat with Alonso, following his substitution in last month’s El Clasico clash against Barcelona.

Leaving the pitch, he angrily shouted: “Always me, I’m leaving the team, it’s better if I leave, I’m leaving.”

Vinicius later issued an apology for his actions, but noticeably did not include Alonso, despite mentioning several others.

The Athletic are reporting that message was deliberate with the relationship between the pair fractured. Vinicius is now ready to explore his options and will have just 12 months to run on his current contract in the summer. He has informed president Florentino Perez of his current stance.

Real Madrid have held negotiations with the player’s representatives over a new deal but no breakthrough has been found. It is understood that Vinicius had demanded a package worth up to €30m per season including bonuses, the highest in club history.

Talks have now stalled with both a financial disparity and Vinicius’ relationship with Alonso factors in his uncertain future.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with a move, while Premier League teams are likely to express interest if the player becomes available.
