Jack Fletcher is set to keep a long-standing Manchester United record alive as he's expected to be part of their squad to face Tottenham . The 18-year-old is the son of club icon Darren Fletcher .

Ruben Amorim's side travel to north London in stellar form, having last lost a league match in late September. They've beaten Chelsea and rivals Liverpool already this season after a rocky start .

The manager will be without academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo for this trip after he picked up a minor injury. Mainoo hasn't travelled with the squad, putting an 88-year record at risk . Since 1937, in a total of 4,332 matches, United have always fielded an academy player in their matchday side. With Mainoo absent, there is no recognised graduate in their midst.

However, this boast could be saved by young Fletcher, who is an academy prospect and was pictured heading down to London with the senior squad. The teenager has evidently impressed for the under-21s and he has a twin brother who is also a star in the making.

Both Jack and his twin brother Tyler signed their first professional contracts with United in April 2024 . The duo followed in their superstar father's footsteps, as Darren was scouted by United aged 11 and progressed through the ranks to play 342 times for them.

Darren was born near Edinburgh and represented Scotland at international level. But one of his sons has decided to go in a different direction .

Both Tyler and Jack began their youth careers at Manchester City before moving to the red half of Manchester in 2023 for a fee of £1.25m .

Since then, both have gone on to impress and despite being just 18, the pair are already regulars for the under-21 side, managed by Travis Binnion.

In March, they linked up in an under-21s match against West Brom , with Jack scoring two goals, both of which were assisted by his twin brother Tyler. Darren has even worked with his sons at youth level and is currently the club's under-18s coach.

When it comes to national teams however, the twins differ. Jack has so far chosen to represent England and even captained the under-18s earlier this year.

Tyler has chosen to emulate his father and currently plays for Scotland's youth setup having previously featured for England. He was the captain of a Scotland under-19 side that played Poland in March.

In 2023, both brothers lined up against one another when England's under-16s played against Scotland. England came away the victors 3-0.

Now, it is Jack who looks set to achieve a brilliant milestone and be named in United's senior squad for their early Saturday kick-off against Tottenham. Just last month, he grabbed an assist when United's under-21 side faced Spurs, beating them 4-1.
