Why Napoli chief scout Micheli is heading to Arsenal

It is confirmed that Maurizio Micheli will join Andrea Berta at Arsenal from Napoli , as both the Partenopei and the Italian chief scout had been preparing for a new chapter for some time.

Sources confirm that Napoli’s chief scout, Micheli, is set to join Arsenal , as the BBC and other British sources reported on Tuesday.

Micheli will become Berta’s main collaborator in North London, ending a very long chapter at Napoli .

Micheli first arrived in Naples in 2010 from Brescia and then returned in 2018 as a chief scout.

His role within De Laurentiis’ club had grown stronger a couple of years ago, shortly before Mauro Meluso arrived at the Stadio Maradona, right after Napoli’s title-winning campaign in 2022-23.

Evidently, however, after such a long journey at the club, Micheli had been considering a new challenge outside of Italy, and even Napoli considered moving towards different avenues after such a strong collaboration.

Arsenal’s prestige and the strong bond of mutual respect with Berta proved decisive, paving the way for the imminent turning point.
