Still searching for their first Premier League win of the 2025-26 season, Wolverhampton Wanderers host Nottingham Forest at Molineux in a crucial clash on Wednesday night. Wolves were unfortunate to lose the West Midlands derby at Aston Villa on Sunday, while Forest only had themselves to blame in a home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The arrival of Rob Edwards as Wolves’ new manager, replacing Vitor Pereira, has yet to spark a turnaround, with the team losing both matches under his leadership and failing to score against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa. Despite the setbacks, Wolves showed promise in their narrow defeat at Villa Park, where only a spectacular strike from Boubacar Kamara denied them a point.

Wolves are now winless in seven matches across all competitions and sit bottom of the Premier League with just two points, nine adrift of safety. They are desperate to end their drought, having not gone this long without a league win since their 2011-12 relegation season. Jorgen Strand Larsen remains a bright spot for the hosts, having seen a goal ruled out for offside last weekend.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, have steadied under new boss Sean Dyche, losing just two of eight matches since his appointment. Dyche led Forest to a three-game winning streak last month and has collected seven points from five league games, lifting them to 16th—one point clear of the relegation zone. Forest have also improved away from home, earning back-to-back clean sheets on the road, including a memorable 3-0 win at Liverpool.

Morgan Gibbs-White has been in fine form since Dyche’s arrival, scoring three goals in his last five Premier League appearances as he looks to catch the attention of England manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
