Wrexham handed fresh promotion verdict with ace in the hole for Premier League dream

Ben Tozer has backed Kieffer Moore's ambitious aim for Wrexham to secure a spot in the Championship play-offs this season. The Red Dragons have had a mixed start to their journey in the second tier this term, following their promotion from League One in April and a hefty £33million summer spending spree .
Despite Phil Parkinson 's squad largely lingering in the lower half of the table, they've seen a recent boost in form, bagging seven points from their last three matches. The run of form saw Wrexham notch up their first home victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Oxford United , followed by a respectable 1-1 draw away at second-placed Middlesbrough .
The North Wales side saved their best display for last Friday night's clash with unbeaten league leaders Coventry City at the Racecourse Ground. Wrexham staged an impressive comeback to clinch a thrilling 3-2 victory over Frank Lampard's team thanks to a second-half hat-trick from Welsh international Moore.
Speaking after the final whistle, the 33-year-old expressed his belief that the club has what it takes to vie for a play-off position this season. Former Wrexham captain Tozer has thrown his support behind the striker, who has already netted nine times in 15 appearances since his summer move from Sheffield United .
Speaking on talkSPORT's EFL All Access podcast , Tozer praised Moore's experience and knowledge of what it takes to get out of the league, having won back-to-back promotions with the Hollywood-owned club himself in 2023 and 2024.
"He will know better than anyone because he was at Sheffield United last year and he knows what it takes to be right at the top of the league," Tozer said. "He's been promoted from the division before as well.
"I was actually at the game on Friday night and it was a cracking game. The fans needed to see a reaction from the game on a Tuesday against Cardiff , because they were so poor in that game.

"I think Wrexham have been in every single game this season, bar one, which was the QPR game at home. They have got the squad and they are stacked in every position. All they've got to do is keep building on the positives.
"They've gone and beaten Coventry, the team that no-one else has beaten so far this season. They went away to Middlesbrough and probably should have won the game."
He added: "Looking at that, why can't they go and achieve that? Why can't they go and be in the play-offs? They're not far off it as well, I think it's only five points. They just need to keep backing up the performances and let the football on the pitch do the talking."
Moore netted a hat-trick in just 23 second-half minutes during Friday's clash with Coventry. The victory temporarily lifted Wrexham to 11th place, though Saturday's fixtures saw them slip back to 15th.
The striker is convinced they possess the quality to launch a play-off bid. It comes after co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac set their sights on an eventual Premier League push .
Speaking to the BBC following the win over the Sky Blues, Moore said: "You only needed to look at the squad we've assembled, a lot of these lads have been playing at the top end of this league for years and a couple of us have played in the league above.
"We're stacked in every position, we've got quality everywhere. Then you look at the league itself. I look at this team and say we can 100 per cent be in those play-off positions."
Wrexham AFC is the arguably the fastest-growing club in the world at the moment thanks to a certain Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
The Dragons have achieved two consecutive promotions and are cheered on by crowds from not only North Wales but also from all over the globe, thanks to the success of the Disney+ documentary 'Welcome to Wrexham'.
