Oliver Glasner's dream Man Utd signing has already given transfer green light

Oliver Glasner may not have to look far for his first Manchester United signing in the event he takes over at Old Trafford this summer. The Austrian sparked fresh speculation of a move to the Theatre of Dreams on Friday by confirming he won't extend his deal at Selhurst Park beyond this summer.
It just so happens that would dovetail nicely with the end of Michael Carrick's interim contract at his old club. The Champions League-winning midfielder has taken the reins until the end of the season but faces a stiff test convincing United's hierarchy to employ him on permanent terms.
Glasner's arrival could fall perfectly for Daniel Munoz. Not only has the Colombia international communicated he would love to join a European superpower like United , but the Red Devils also have need of a player fitting his profile.
That could leave Glasner with a no-brainer decision in the summer transfer window later this year. Speaking to Spanish outlet AS , Munoz confessed he has ambitions of playing for Europe’s biggest clubs, including United. And he went so far as to admit it would be "a dream" to play for a team like United.
"First of all, I think there’s a lot of talk about one club or another,” he said. “If you ask me, it would be a dream to play for one of these clubs, whether it’s Barcelona , PSG , Real Madrid , or Manchester United .
“I think I’m working towards that. I strive every day to one day attract the attention of one of these clubs, because for me, it’s a dream to get there."
Diogo Dalot had been United's right-back of choice but hasn't been the most reliable, in addition to several injury setbacks this season. That saw Carrick's predecessor, Ruben Amorim , promote Amad Diallo to the starting wing-back role in recent months.
Munoz, 29, has been thriving in a similar wing-back capacity for Palace since joining the club from Genk in January 2024. He has three goals and two assists in only 14 Premier League outings this season and was instrumental to the club's FA Cup success last year .
While his age profile isn't ideal, United are in need of assets at the peak of their powers right now. The player has a little more than two years remaining on his contract in south London, however, putting Palace under no immediate pressure to sell.

It works in United's favour that the Eagles spent just £6.6million to acquire the full-back from Genk almost two years ago. That, combined with the fact he turns 30 in May, could help United secure a cost-effective deal, especially if he's enticed by the prospect of reuniting with Glasner.
Given Palace's success under the Austrian in recent seasons, numerous players in south London have seen their valuations rise. United might therefore expect to pay a premium compared to the fee Palace snagged Munoz's signature, but it's unlikely to prove prohibitive.
One intriguing aspect is the fact Glasner often operates with three at the back in defence, a similar system to the one that frustrated many United fans under Amorim. However, in the off-chance he does get the nod to come in as United's next permanent manager, having a straightforward target like Munoz might go a long way.
