70-app PL star being targeted by INEOS said he first realised his ‘dream’ when he walked out at Old Trafford

Tyler Adams says he realised that his ‘dream’ was to play in the Premier League after he walked out at Old Trafford for the first time.

In the build-up to Bournemouth’s clash in M16 on Monday evening, the USMNT international told ‘The Captain’ podcast (by Verizon): “It’s just a special occasion. This is what you grow up watching, whether you’re a fan or not. A fan of Manchester United walking into Old Trafford will change your perspective on everything.

“I played at Old Trafford during COVID with Leipzig. And that was the first time I walked into Old Trafford, and I was like, ‘My dream is really to play in the Premier League because this is what it’s about right here’.”

While it wasn’t directly addressed in the interview, Adams has actually been linked with Manchester United on numerous occasions in recent weeks, as they continue their search for a young but proven midfielder to add to Ruben Amorim’s ranks.

The 26-year-old fits that bill, as he boasts four seasons’ worth of Premier League experience – three with the Cherries and one with Leeds United.

Adams has now racked up 70 appearances in the English top flight and has become one of Andoni Iraola’s most trusted lieutenants during his transformative tenure at the Vitality Stadium.

United chiefs would’ve been keen to get a closer look at the player in action during Monday’s contest. However, he was withdrawn in just the fifth minute after suffering a suspected MCL (medial collateral ligament) injury.

He was swiftly replaced by Alex Scott, who’s also said to be on INEOS’ shortlist , and missed out on the whirlwind eight-goal thriller.

Having signed for the Dorset outfit in August 2023, Adams is tied down to a deal until 2028.

In the build-up to the summer of 2026, a transfer is likely to be the last thing on his mind while he prepares for a World Cup tournament on home soil, during which he’ll, if fit, captain his nation under the guidance of head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Only after the conclusion of America’s campaign will Adams perhaps consider where his future might lie beyond the Cherries, and whether he wants to experience that feeling of coming out of the Stretford End tunnel alongside the home team.
