Arne Slot has ‘no clue’ if Mohamed Salah will play for Liverpool again after explosive interview
Arne Slot has admitted that he has ‘no clue’ whether Mohamed Salah will play for Liverpool again following his recent explosive interview.
Salah accused the club of throwing him under the bus, and that his relationship with the Reds manager has collapsed.
The Egyptian’s comments did not go down well with many pundits, including Wayne Rooney who called on Slot to drop the player .
Salah has been omitted from Liverpool’s squad for their Champions League fixture against Inter Milan. The Guardian report the decision has been taken by the club’s hierarchy in conjunction with Slot.
This has cast further doubt on Salah’s future at Anfield. Slot was asked whether the 33-year-old may have played his last game for the Premier League champions.
“I have no clue,” He replied.
“I cannot answer that question at this point in time.”
Salah has been integral to Liverpool’s success over the years. He has scored 250 goals and created 116 assists in 420 senior appearances, helping his team win two Premier League titles and a Champions League.
But the Egypt international has been a shadow of his former self this campaign, which is not greatly surprising given his age.
Slot made the right decision to bench him for the previous three matches.
However, Salah publicly vented his frustration in a highly unprofessional manner, thus endangering his Anfield legacy.
Liverpool want him to stay at the club until his contract expires in 2027 , but his behaviour suggests he intends to leave before that.
Saudi Pro League clubs remain committed to bringing him to the Middle East, with Al-Hilal currently the leading contender .
