Martin Odegaard is tonight set make his first start in two months as Arsenal host Brentford.

Odegaard injured his knee at the start of October and he has now returned to action, but only as a substitute. The midfielder has come off the bench in Arsenal’s last two games against Bayern Munich and Chelsea, getting 42 minutes under his belt. Odegaard now starts as the Gunners take on Brentford at Emirates Stadium .

Arsenal come into the match off the back of three huge games, with the last of those at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Mikel Arteta therefore makes changes to his side, although he is short of options in the heart of defence.

Gabriel is out with a thigh injury, while William Saliba is struggling with the knock that forced him to miss the Chelsea game .

Leandro Trossard is also a doubt for the Brentford match due to a calf injury sustained in last week’s win over Bayern Munich . Gabriel Martinelli or Noni Madueke are primed to come in on the left flank, although Eberechi Eze could move out there.

Viktor Gyokeres is back in action and returned off the bench last weekend following a hamstring strain. The Swede is in contention to start against Brentford , although Mikel Merino has performed well in his absence and so could keep his place .
