Cristiano Ronaldo compares himself to Donald Trump: "I am more famous"
Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the international headlines after a new interview with British journalist Piers Morgan , published on Thursday, November 6, on the program Piers Morgan Uncensored. At 40 years of age, the Portuguese striker firmly assured that "nobody is more famous" than him, during a conversation in which he also reflected on his personal life and his relationship with fame.
There is currently no one more famous than me on the planet
The conversation began when Morgan mentioned President Donald Trump , recalling that during the G7 summit in Canada, the president received a Portugal national team jersey signed by the footballer. The journalist then noted that both - Ronaldo and Trump - are probably "the two most famous people on the planet".
Faced with that comment, the player responded with a smile: "Let's have a debate for the world: Who is more famous, me or Donald Trump?" When Morgan asked for his opinion, Ronaldo did not hesitate: "Me". And he argued: "I think worldwide, even in the smallest islands, they know me more than him... In the world, no one is more famous than me".
Cristiano reflects on fame and its personal impact
During the talk, Piers Morgan suggested that in other times figures such as Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth II or Nelson Mandela would have been above in popularity, but acknowledged that currently the debate boils down to "Ronaldo and Trump".
The Al-Nassr striker, with more than 650 million followers on Instagram , spoke openly about what it means to live under constant attention. "I don't like it. It is what it is. It's boring. Believe me," he confessed. "I wish I wasn't so famous. I never wanted to be. I wanted to be successful, I knew I would become a star, but so famous... never."
The engagement to Georgina Rodriguez and a million-dollar ring
In addition to talking about his global fame, Ronaldo confirmed his engagement to Georgina Rodriguez , his partner of eight years. The player recalled the moment he proposed to her, highlighting Georgina's sincere reaction to the more than $5 million ring.
"One thing I love is that she didn't care about the ring . She asked me if I was sincere and I said, 'I love you and I want to marry you'" , the footballer said. "I didn't cry, but I had tears in my eyes."
With this interview, Ronaldo once again shows his most human side: an idol who, despite his success and worldwide recognition, admits that fame can be as much of a burden as his achievements on the pitch.
