England star faces court over 'illegal' XL Bully as he didn't register dog

ENGLAND ace Morgan Gibbs-White will face a court hearing after failing to register a banned XL Bully dog.

The £60million-rated Nottingham Forest star missed last February’s deadline to register Harlo.

Owning one without an exemption certificate is a criminal offence, although the case against Gibbs-White, 25, is a civil matter.

He was due to appear at Nottingham magistrates’ court yesterday but the hearing was delayed until next month.

Some Prem stars became owners of XL Bullies for security reasons after a spate of raids at players’ houses.

It is understood Gibbs-White is accused of failing to log the dog with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs.

Police are asking for a destruction order but as Harlo has not attacked anyone, he is unlikely to be put down.

Gibbs-White turned down a move to Tottenham and signed a new deal with Forest this summer.

He lives in a £700,000 home in East Bridgford with fiancée Britney De Villiers.

There are an estimated 55,000 XL Bullies in the UK, with another 20,000 thought to be owned illegally.

Some 848 non-compliant XL Bully dogs were seized and euthanised by police in England and Wales between February and September last year.

Nottinghamshire Police have named a service dog “PD Gibbs” in honour of the player’s Forest performances.

The force was asked to comment.

Nottingham Forest declined to comment.
