Sean Dyche is set to face his former club Everton as he leads Nottingham Forest to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for their latest Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon. This marks the first meeting between the two sides since April, when ex-Toffees midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure netted a dramatic 94th-minute winner to secure a 1-0 victory for Everton at the City Ground.
David Moyes was well aware that Bournemouth’s Vitality Stadium has traditionally been a difficult venue for Everton, with the Toffees having lost their previous seven visits in all competitions. However, they managed to end that streak on Tuesday night, edging out the Cherries 1-0 thanks to a deflected strike from Jack Grealish 12 minutes from time. The win helped Everton bounce back quickly from a heavy 4-1 home defeat to Newcastle United just days earlier.
Apart from that setback against Newcastle, Moyes has had little to complain about regarding his team’s recent form. Everton have won three of their last four matches, climbing to 10th in the Premier League table and sitting just three points off the top four. Not since the 2020-21 season have the Toffees collected as many as 21 points at this stage. Four of their six victories so far have been by a single goal, though they have also suffered two heavy home defeats in their last three outings at Goodison Park.
On the other side, Sean Dyche has brought stability to Nottingham Forest following the brief and disappointing 39-day tenure of Ange Postecoglou. Since taking charge at the end of October, Dyche has guided Forest to five wins and two draws in nine matches across all competitions. The Tricky Trees have won three of their last four Premier League games—a run bettered only by Aston Villa in that span—and most recently responded to a 2-0 home defeat to Brighton by grinding out a narrow 1-0 victory at Wolves on Wednesday night.
Igor Jesus’s sixth goal of the season, and his first in the Premier League, proved decisive at Molineux, and Dyche expressed his delight at his team’s ability to “find a way to win” even when not at their best. Forest currently sit 16th in the table, three points clear of the relegation zone, and will be buoyed by their recent success on Merseyside, having stunned reigning champions Liverpool with a 3-0 win at Anfield just two weeks ago.
