Karim Adeyemi: Dortmund star has clear dream destination as Man United hold talks with agent
Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi reportedly has a preferred transfer destination amidst suggestions that Manchester United are eyeing him.
One of the best talents in European football, United are believed to be one of the clubs eyeing Adeyemi. It has been claimed that his relationship with Dortmund boss Nico Kovac is becoming strained.
Adeyemi has spent three years in Dortmund but his future at Signal Iduna Park looks extremely uncertain ahead of the January transfer window. He hurled a bottle towards the technical area after he was substituted by Kovac during last month’s 1-0 victory over Koln. Kovac publicly criticised Adeyemi for his actions. He branded the behaviour “unnecessary.”
A report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United held talks with the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, regarding a potential deal.
It was subsequently stated that the Red Devils are prepared to lodge a bid for the 23-year-old, although a January swoop has been downplayed.
TEAMtalk have given an update on the situation, indicating that Adeyemi would be open to sealing a switch to the Premier League, with Arsenal emerging as his preferred destination.
TEAMtalk claim, “Sources have revealed to TEAMtalk that it is Arsenal who are best positioned to sign Adeyemi should Dortmund cash in…”
“While Adeyemi’s entourage has signalled openness to a Premier League move, it is London that is seen as a preferred destination over Manchester.”
It’s understood that Adeyemi feels his pace and other playing attributes are more suited to the Gunners compared to United.
Meanwhile, Sky Germany write that Adeyemi has not requested to leave Dortmund. The Bundesliga outfit actually want to keep him and have proposed a new deal to extend his contract. If he accepts the terms on offer, Adeyemi’s wages will improve from €5.7m a year to €7.2m.
Mendes wants the new contract to have a release clause but Dortmund have no desire to include it.
Adeyemi’s current deal expires in 2027. The Germany international has registered two goals and one assist in 10 top-flight appearances this season.
