Man Utd left red-faced as Michael Keane and Everton make history at Ruben Amorim's expense

Michael Keane got a slap from one of his own team-mates - but it was Manchester United left with the red faces at Old Trafford.
On a remarkable night, Idrissa Gueye was sent off for striking Keane following a first half clash between the warring duo. But despite being down to 10 men inside the 14th minute, David Moyes's side went on to secure a famous win and bring United's unbeaten run to a shuddering halt. And in doing so, Everton become the first side in history to win a Premier League game on this ground, having gone a man down.
It was all thanks to a stunning first half strike from Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, which ruined the 12th month anniversary of Ruben Amorim.
If Amorim could have picked one opponent to help him extend United's unbeaten run to six games, it would have been Everton. United had beaten them more times in the top flight than anyone else (42). While the Merseyside outfit arrived in Manchester with just two wins to their name on this ground since the inception of the Premier League.
Moyes, meanwhile, had never won here as an opposition manager. He didn't win much here when he was United manager, come to think of it.
But if he could buck the trend and leave Old Trafford with three points, it would have lifted his side above Liverpool in the table. That should have been a huge incentive to the Scot - he just never imagined how the end of his personal hoodoo would play out.
United were also missing Matheus Cunha with a head injury which had also forced him to pull out of switching on the Christmas lights in Altrincham last weekend. This resulted in a rare start for Joshua Zirkzee - his first for 225 days. The same one which saw Rory McIlroy win the Masters.

Everton started well, with a flowing move needing Leny Yoro to stop Iliman Ndiaye's cross from reaching the waiting Thierno Barry. Ndiaye then curled a shot wide as United struggled to get out of their own half.
Then all hell broke loose with Gueye's moment of madness, leaving his side down to 10 men after just 13 minutes. He had to be escorted off the pitch by peacemaker Jordan Pickford, while Keane waved Gueye off following the controversial decision of referee Tony Harrington. Not that it bothered the visitors, who went and took the lead on 29 minutes with a stunning strike from Dewsbury-Hall.
Patrick Dorgu should have equalised, but shot wide when it looked easier to score. While Amad Diallo jinked into the box, but also failed to hit the target.
Pickford then produced a world class save to keep out a long range pile driver from Bruno Fernandes. Everton had something to cling to, and looked determined keep hold of their lead. Whatever it took.

Amorim threw on Mason Mount in the hope of finding some spark. And Mount curled a shot a whisker wide, while Pickford denied Bryan Mbeumo with another top class save. And two even better ones to keep out headers from Zirkzee.
The visitors were showing fighting spirt for all the right reasons this time, leaving United becoming more desperate. And it was that man Keane who led Everton's rearguard action, producing some crucial blocks and tackles as United piled forward.
