Manchester United vs West Ham United – Match Preview and Team News

Manchester United welcome West Ham United to Old Trafford on Thursday night to conclude the midweek round of Premier League action.

Rúben Amorim’s side will be desperate to build on a gritty 2-1 comeback victory away at Crystal Palace on Sunday. However, they face a West Ham side that has dominated this fixture recently, having won four of the last five Premier League meetings between the clubs.

Ruben Amorim has received a significant boost with forward Matheus Cunha returning to training after a knock. However, the injury list remains a concern. Striker Benjamin Šeško (knee) and defender Harry Maguire (hamstring) are ruled out. In addition, the manager revealed two fresh injury doubts but declined to name them. Leny Yoro is expected to retain his place in defence despite being substituted early against Palace.

Nuno Espírito Santo is dealing with a major suspension blow. Playmaker Lucas Paquetá is unavailable after receiving a red card for dissent against Liverpool. Furthermore, winger Crysencio Summerville is a major doubt with a knock. Goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański and defender Oliver Scarles remain sidelined. Consequently, Tomáš Souček or James Ward-Prowse could step into a more advanced midfield role.

United sit 7th in the table, three points off the top four. Although their form has been inconsistent, they have turned Old Trafford into a fortress for midweek games. In fact, the Red Devils are unbeaten in their last 17 midweek Premier League home matches, winning the last eight in a row.

The Hammers saw their three-match unbeaten streak snapped by a 2-0 home loss to Liverpool on Sunday. Prior to that, wins over Newcastle and Burnley had moved them away from the danger zone. Despite their recent loss, they will be confident knowing they completed the league double over Manchester United last season.

Manchester United predicted XI: Lammens; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Shaw; Diallo, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot; Mbeumo, Mount; Zirkzee

West Ham United predicted XI: Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Diouf; Potts, Soucek; Bowen, Fernandes, Guilherme; Wilson

The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League . Coverage starts at 7:00 pm GMT.
