Manuel Neuer discusses Bayern Munich future and possible Germany return
Bayern Munich have just beat St. Pauli 3-1 to extend their stay at the top of the Bundesliga to 44 consecutive matchdays – a club record.
Speaking after stoppage time goals from Luis Díaz and Nicolas Jackson , Neuer discussed his Bayern Munich future, with his current deal expiring in 2026.
“The crucial factor will be how I feel,” Neuer told Sky Germany . “We’ll see in the second half of the season. I’ll think about it more towards March.”
Club bosses would like to tie Neuer down to a new one-year contract , while Sven Ulreich will likely call time on his playing career. Should the 39-year-old sign an extension beyond the summer, Alexander Nübel, who is currently on loan at VfB Stuttgart, will likely be sold .
And although Neuer has reiterated time and again that he has no interest in returning to the German national team for the 2026 World Cup , he again insisted that a return to the setup is out of the question.
“The fact is, I deliberately retired,” added Neuer. “My focus is on the club.”
