Michael Olise: Manchester United enter race to sign Bayern superstar

In their first summer transfer window at Manchester United last year, Ineos wanted to make a statement attacking addition.

It is believed the club’s hierarchy were keen on signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, so much so that they were prepared to ask Sir Alex Ferguson to help convince the Frenchman to move to Old Trafford.

However, United were late to the party, as Bayern Munich triggered his release clause in July of 2024. The Red Devils have now re-ignited their interest in the ex-Palace sensation.

According to CaughtOffside , United are keeping a close eye on Michael Olise , who could leave Bayern for around €130-140m.

The 23-year-old has taken his game to the next level at Bayern, having been directly involved in 62 goals in 73 appearances across all competitions.

Olise has impressed with his dribbling and link-up play in tight spaces, forging a strong connection with Harry Kane in Germany.

If the France international decides to leave Bayern, he’ll have have “plenty of tempting offers available to him, such as Arsenal, Man Utd, and Barcelona.”

“Bayern want to keep him, but every player has his price, and they could consider a sale if someone comes in with €130–140 million,” a source said.

Barcelona, however, are unlikely to be able to afford the right winger due to their financial predicament. It is understood a return to the Premier League is the most likely outcome.

Liverpool are expected to make the strongest push, as they are desperate to find Mo Salah’s replacement. The Reds were interested in Bryan Mbeumo before he moved to Old Trafford.

Mbeumo has proven to be an instant success at United, having bagged five goals in the Premier League this term. His understudy on the right flank, Amad Diallo, has also looked promising.

As such, United might decide against splurging north of €100m to add another winger, who primarily plays on the right flank, to their ranks.
