Omar Berrada is expected to side with Manchester United 's director of football Jason Wilcox if it comes down to a straight fight with him and Ruben Amorim amid their apparent power struggle
Amorim let fire in another press conference following his side's 1-1 draw at Leeds , where he claimed he had been appointed as a manager, not a head coach. His gripes appear to centre around the club's transfer activity going forward.
The Portuguese's issues with Wilcox are casting doubt over his future, but a battle with one of the club's most influential figures would likely end badly for the ex-Sporting Lisbon boss, especially if the CEO was forced to have a say.
talkSPORT reports that one of Amorim's frustrations stem from Wilcox urging him to show some pragmatism tactically. Previously he had stuck defiantly to his 3-4-3 formation, despite its lack of success. In more recent weeks he did go to a back four, but reverted back to type at the weekend.
Wilcox would appear to have the backing of Berrada, who is part of a structure put in place by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, trusted to run the club on his behalf.
Amorim feels as though promises regarding this transfer window have been broken with United now planning a quiet January, whilst he had been hoping to further bolster his squad. United did spend over £200million in the summer on their frontline, but holes still exist in their squad.
One of Amorim's frustrations was with the decision to pursue Benjamin Sesko, who cost the club £70m, but has struggled to have an impact as of yet. United's head coach would've preferred to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa given he has proven himself in the Premier League .

Amorim has also made it clear that he expects to move on when his contract concludes at the end of next season. He said: "In every department - the scouting department, the sporting director – [they] need to do their job. I will do mine for 18 months and then we move on.
"I just want to say that I'm going to be the manager of this team, not just the coach. I was really clear on that. That is going to finish in 18 months and then everyone is going to move on. That was the deal. That is my job. Not to be a coach."
