Radek Vitek: United feel loanee ready for first team chance

Manchester United have finally stumbled upon the perfect solution to their problems in goal.

For two seasons, Andre Onana let the club down after Erik ten Hag brought him in as David de Gea’s replacement.

The Cameroonian committed mistakes galore, both in the Premier League and in Europe , and Ruben Amorim was finally forced to act this season.

The ex-Inter Milan star’s disastrous Carabao Cup display led to United crashing out of the competition at the Round Two stage at the hands of League Two side Grimsby Town.

After flirting with the possibility of landing Emiliano Martinez of Aston Villa, the club finally settled on Senne Lammens as their new No.1.

And the Belgian has proven to be revelation, impressing with his assured shot-stopping and commanding presence inside the box.

Backup keeper Altay Bayindir, who struggled as Onana’s replacement earlier this season, has had to make do with a watching brief. And even that could come to an end very soon if Centredevils are to be believed.

Academy graduate Radek Vitek, who is currently out on loan at Bristol City in the Championship, has been in stunning form and is keen to return to Old Trafford to stake his claim for the No.1 jersey .

And the 20-time English league champions feel he is ready to compete with Lammens for a spot in goal next season.

There is interest from Championship and Premier League clubs in the 22-year-old, but he is keen to make his mark at Old Trafford instead of leaving for another club.

“CentreDevils understands that Manchester United are delighted with Radek Vitek’s loan so far at Bristol City and feel that he is ahead of his development.

“The club have discussed internally that the 22-year-old could potentially compete with Senne Lammens next season as a first-team player.

“This, of course, would mean no room for Turkish international Altay Bayindir, with a potential exit on the cards for next summer.

“Multiple EFL Championship and some Premier League clubs hold an interest in signing Vitek if the opportunity arises; however, the Czech international would rather stay at United if he is given an opportunity.”

Radek Vitek has kept five clean sheets already for Bristol City, and after a stellar last season out on loan in Austria, he certainly deserves a crack at the No.1 spot.
