Report: Barcelona’s 2026/27 away kit set to bring a sense of nostalgia

As the football world continues to drift toward early design leaks and concept kits, Barcelona supporters now find themselves analysing yet another round of rumours, this time surrounding the proposed colours for the 2026/27 campaign .

Despite being only at the early stages of the 2025/26 season, sketches claiming to be close to Nike’s final drafts are circulating widely, and some of them appear to carry a degree of credibility.

According to sources within the club environment, one particular sketch of the home kit is said to be remarkably similar to the version Nike has already prepared for next year.

In fact, a new report from Mundo Deportivo suggests that Barcelona are set to return to a historic colour.

In their words, the club’s second kit for the 2026/27 season “is expected to be yellow”, with the possibility of pairing it with matching yellow shorts or a darker blue variation.

Barcelona’s relationship with the colour yellow stretches deep into the club’s heritage.

The shade dominated the away strips between 1975 and 1985, although its run ended on a sour note.

Yet the colour later regained symbolic value. During the 2005/06 season, Barcelona beat Arsenal 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League final.

The memories continue into 2009, a year many Barcelona fans still cherish. That year, Andres Iniesta scored the iconic goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, marking an unforgettable step on the path to another Champions League trophy.

More recently, yellow was used in 2019/20 as the dominant colour of the away kit, featuring a diagonal blaugrana stripe.

It even resurfaced in later years as part of various third and fourth kits that incorporated elements of the Catalan flag.

However, despite earlier suggestions of a purple second kit, those close to the design process now insist that yellow is the chosen direction.
