Roy Keane claims Liverpool and Arne Slot will be 'regretting' transfer decision

Roy Keane and Jamie Carragher have both suggested that Liverpool will be ruing their failure to sign Marc Guehi in the summer transfer window after a deal for the Crystal Palace captain collapsed on deadline day.
The Premier League champions have endured a difficult start to the season and have looked suspect defensively at times. Unfortunately for Arne Slot , his options at the back have been slim after summer signing Giovanni Leoni suffered an ACL injury which will keep him sidelined until next season.
Carragher believes his old club simply have to sign a central defender in the January transfer window if they are to salvage their season. Both he and Keane feel that failing to do so could cost them a Champions League place - and that the club will be 'regretting' their decision for not getting a deal over the line for Guehi sooner.
“That was a bad mistake [not signing Marc Guehi],” Carragher told the Stick to Football podcast . “Liverpool are known as being really smart in the market, not overpaying and really good at selling. That could cost them. I think if Liverpool don’t sign a centre-back in January…”
Keane then interjected, saying "they'd miss out on the Champions League", which Carragher agreed with. The Manchester United captain also singled out the failed move for Guehi, adding: “They’ll regret that decision as well, Guehi in the summer, won’t they.
“That looks worse now, the more you look at it.”

While Liverpool left it late in the window to try and sign Guehi, it was Crystal Palace who pulled the plug on a deal after failing to sign their preferred replacement for the England star, whose contract is up next summer.
Sky Sports revealed on Wednesday night that the feeling at Selhurst Park is that Liverpool are the only one of Guehi's suitors likely to make a move for the 25-year-old in January , which will represent Palace's final chance to cash in on the defender.
Guehi is known to have admirers among Europe's elite. The feeling is, though, that those clubs would rather bide their time in the hope of landing him on a free transfer in 2026.
