Wolves find themselves at the bottom of the Premier League table, having lost nine of their 11 matches this season and still searching for their first win. The hosts are currently enduring a five-game losing streak across all competitions and have conceded at least three goals in each of their last four outings. Despite their defensive woes, Wolves have managed to score five times during that run, including two goals in their most recent home league fixture against Burnley.

Just six weeks after signing a new three-year contract, Vitor Pereira was dismissed as Wolves head coach following a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Fulham in early November. Under-21s coach James Collins then took charge for another heavy 3-0 loss at Chelsea before the international break.

Now eight points adrift of safety and having conceded a league-high 25 goals, Wolves are enduring one of their worst starts to a campaign, with only two draws and nine defeats from their opening 11 matches. The last time they failed to win any of their first 12 league games was back in 1983-84. While only seven teams have started a Premier League season winless in their first 12 matches, Wolves can take some solace from the fact that three of those sides ultimately avoided relegation: Everton (1994-95), Derby County (2000-01), and Newcastle United (2021-22).

Rob Edwards has been appointed as Wolves’ new manager, returning to a club he knows well from his previous roles as player, coach, and Under-23s boss. The 42-year-old has signed a three-year deal after leaving Championship promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough. Notably, Edwards’ first Premier League home win as Luton Town manager came against Crystal Palace after last November’s international break—a result he’ll hope to replicate with Wolves this weekend.

However, turning things around against Crystal Palace won’t be easy. Wolves have won just one of their last nine Premier League meetings with the Eagles (D1 L7), after winning three of the first five (D1 L1).

Crystal Palace arrive in good form, unbeaten in their last four matches with three wins and a draw. The Eagles have scored three goals in two of their last four games and have looked sharp in attack throughout the season. Sitting 10th in the table, Palace also boast a strong recent record against Wolves, winning seven of the last nine league encounters between the sides.

Recent meetings have tended to be high-scoring affairs, with both teams finding the net in five of the last six head-to-heads and over 3.5 goals scored in each of the last four clashes.

Edwards will be eager to make an immediate impact at Molineux, but Wolves face a tough challenge against a Crystal Palace side that has consistently had the upper hand in this fixture.
