Zeki Celik: Man United enter chase for AS Roma utility man in bargain swoop
Manchester United is clearly not where it needs to be.
For Ruben Amorim ‘s project to truly succeed, INEOS must bolster his squad with quality signings.
As United look to assemble the Portuguese tactician’s dream team, they cannot help but be linked with a host of talented players.
The latest name on United’s radar is AS Roma right-back Zeki Celik .
Rudy Galetti, via Teamtalk , reports:
“Manchester United are keen on signing AS Roma right-back Zeki Celik .
He adds:
“Celik is out of contract at AS Roma at the end of the season, which has sparked interest from Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City.”
Roma, however, are eager to extend his deal. Having started their last 13 matches, he remains a key player for Gian Piero Gasperini. And Galetti claims:
“I Giallorossi are actively working to accelerate a contract renewal, but the former Lille star is in no rush and is expected to carefully evaluate any concrete offers in the coming weeks.”
A right-back capable of slotting into midfield and central defence, Celik is the type of utility player every manager craves. His blend of defensive solidity, experience, and attacking contribution makes him an ideal signing for Amorim.
He could inject the bite this United side has been yearning for, with the United boss intent on building an athletic team capable of tearing opponents apart.
Securing him on a free transfer would represent a masterstroke, allowing United to strengthen without disrupting their transfer plans .
That said, if United are serious, they must act quickly. A pre-contract agreement at the turn of the year could prove decisive, enabling them to trump their league rivals in this race.
